I was pretty stoked to see that Paizo Publishing has put out a free copy of their Pathfinder RPG. It’s based off of the D&D 3.5 ruleset and will work at keeping some compatibility with D&D 3.5 in the midst of D&D 4 coming out. Yeah, it’s a wait and see kind of thing right now, but Pathfinder looks good. It looks like they are trying to smooth out some of those kinks in D&D 3.5 and make characters a little more powerful.
Early bonuses in the rules: different experience level ranges for slow or fast campaigns, 1st level characters that are a bit more dangerous, and easy skills. I dig it so far.
You can dowload a copy here: paizo.com/pathfinderRPG
Note: This site has been slow in starting up, but I’ll have more in a month or two.

Christmas has already pretty much come and gone.
If you are looking for Christmas-themed games in anticipation of next year or to round out your holiday spirit, feel free to grab a copy of my game, Santa’s Little Helpers. It’s a wild action roleplaying game of super spy elfen badassry. I’ve got a short story worked out for the game that should see inclusion sometime next year.
Also, I noticed the fine folks of Columbia Games (who do the old fashioned but stout Harn fantasy rpg) have released a free Harnic Christmas download. Zordario Productions has also tossed out a free Christmas Fantasy Elves portrait, which might be useful to you. Evil Hat Productions have also tossed up a wicked-looking Spirit of the Season download - pulp adventure and Christmas sound like matches made in heaven.
Free stuff is good. Happy Holidays.
